Books I’m Reading in January
I have a goal of reading 50 books in 2023. I’m sharing the books I plan to read this month in an effort to hold myself accountable. If you would like to do the same, comment with what you’re reading! (I’m also looking for recommendations for my TBR pile.) Below are the three books I have lined up for January.
These three books speak to a couple of interests: poetry, occultism, witchcraft, astrology, neurodivergency, and mental health. As a multi-passionate person, I can’t commit to one topic — that goes for both writing and reading.
MERELAND BY EDWARD NEAR
I’m currently in the middle of MERELAND by Edward Near. This is a debut poetry collection. Composed by an autistic poet, “Mereland” contains a varied collection of verses, set within the eponymous fictional town. The poet was inspired by childhood experiences as someone growing up on the spectrum.
So far, I’m enjoying the personality of the fictional town, as well as the unique perspective presented by the poet. Regardless of our levels of neurodivergency, we can all relate to feeling different in some sort of way.
