Medium Partner Program Realities
From viral articles to espresso-fueled nonsense
This article is an example of what happens when you’re four espresso shots in, have ten items left on your to-do list, and made an arbitrary commitment to yourself to publish on Medium almost every day. If you don’t keep a commitment to yourself, what does that say about you? Wow, I hope you’re reading all of this in one breath because I wrote this paragraph while holding mine.
To write is to engage in the act of creation.
And according to my birth chart, I could either create stories or make babies, and this is far less expensive — if only marginally less painful.
Medium is less about monetization and more about just doing the damn thing. Sure, I’m enrolled in the Medium Partner Program and make some money from my articles, but I do it for the process. Imagine I had a cigar in my mouth when I wrote that. I didn’t, but imagine.
Exploring Without Limits
Writers on Medium can write without restriction. I learned that when I stumbled into an erotica rabbit hole in 2020. Sadly, the handful of erotica writers I followed back then never published again. I’m sure they’ve all gone to the same orgy-filled farm in the sky.
